Ah, each year we get questions of “what will you do for Thanksgiving (or Christmas)?” And its been the same for the past several years (2018, 2017 Christmas, 2017 Thanksgiving). We celebrate, we feast, and we do LEGO shopping for LEGO sets on clearance!
Black Friday LEGO Creative Boxes
Yes, the Black Friday sales got us a big number of the creative boxes. We “hired” friends to help us get the boxes open, bags sorted by color, boxes collapsed and trash bags of the LEGO bags into the LEGO room. It took 6 people, including 2 adults, about 2 hours to do all this. The trash bags each hold 50 of the bags of LEGO bags, which is a do-able amount. Its been surprising what sells fast and what sits, what sells in large lots and what sells a piece or two at at time. If you need 200 2×4 bricks in one color, you’ll have to jump fast!
Post-Christmas LEGO sets
Most years the post- Christmas clearance sales have been good to us. This year was no different! The following list is not *everything* we got, because we got A LOT of sets, some have already been parted out, or I just missed it. Yeah, I miss things sometimes.
Big tip — if you didn’t do an Advent set this year, see if you can find a 2019 Advent set on clearance and save it for next year. Or if you did do a 2019 Advent set, grab one of the other Advent sets for next year… on clearance! If you can plan ahead, and I know when its for a kid, that’s hard to do, grabbing set on clearance after a holiday can save you some major moo-la. We found Harry Potter Advent sets, City Advent sets and Star Wars Advent sets on clearance. There is a Friends Advent set also, we just didn’t find any at the stores we stopped at.
LEGO Movie sets were big this year, and we found several on clearance. Angry Kitty, Sis-star Ship, Emmett and Lucy’s Escape Buggy, the Sparkle Spa set and the Movie Maker set were the ones we found.
Star Wars sets are always a good deal; we found Interceptor TIE Black Ace. We found Spider Man’s Spider Crawler, and the Friend’s set Nia’s Tree House.
