In the previous part of this series on LEGO® minifigures, I looked at food options. Today I’ll talk about weapons for LEGO minifigures, including police, pirates, knights and stormtroopers.
I’ll divide the LEGO® weapons into groups according to projectile/non-projectile weapons and by realistic or fantastical. Let’s start with realistic weapons for hand-to-hand combat. The LEGO® Group produces a lot of different swords, especially with minor mold variations. I’ve included a picture of basic styles – ninja type swords, pirate swords, a fencing sword, lances and a mace.

Fantasy Blades
If realism isn’t your thing, try some of these ideas. They come from ninja themes, superheroes, etc. Okay, I guess the spear in there doesn’t qualify as fantasy, but you get the idea. Bug-eyed aliens sometimes use blades too, just ask the Klingons. (Sorry, no bat’leth, just an illustration!)

Modern Projectile Weapons
The LEGO® Group has a longstanding policy – they do not create realistic looking 20th century weapons. It’s a high-level decision about the kinds of toys that they create. For the most part, if you want the sorts of weapons modern soldiers might carry, then you have to go to a 3rd party like Brickarms. The closest thing to an exception I’ve seen is this little pistol, originally released in 2008 in some Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sets. It disappeared for six years, but then returned. It now appears in a number of sets – superheroes, Star Wars, and even the Maersk Triple-E (an enormous container ship).

Ancient Projectile Weapons
The ban on modern weapons means that firearms either come as old bell-mouthed blunderbuss, or futuristic blasters. They have also made some revolvers and single shot pistols, more reminiscent of the American Revolution through the American Civil War. Bows and arrows also seem a natural inclusion.

Future Projectile Weapons/Blasters/etc.
Since the Star Wars tie-ins cover a large part of the lineup of LEGO® sets, it makes sense to produce blasters. They come in three sizes, the largest of which sells out almost as fast as we can stock them (which explains their absence from our photo). We also have assorted space blasters.
