After taking an extended vacation, it can take a while trying to get back to normal. That’s what we did this last week – just before the start of school upsets “normal” all over again.
Lots of Parting Out
Target stores have been doing summer clearance recently, and I’ve taken advantage to get some cheap sets. The downside comes from parting out lower quantities of sets, but we like the variety.
72005 – 6 copies of Nexo Knights Aaron’s X-bow. We haven’t parted out a lot of sets from the Nexo Knights line. But Target had these sets on clearance, so we decided to add it to the few others we’ve picked up similarly. They feature some slopes that don’t really come in other lines very often. And transparent neon-orange. That’s a Nexo Knights signature color apparently.
41597 – 12 copies of Go Brick Me. This one comes with a long story. We ordered these sets online. As usual, we received a notification about the delivery. We asked “delivered where?” since they weren’t at our house and our neighbors hadn’t received them either. After a few days, the carrier said they couldn’t figure out what they did with the packages, so the online retailer shipped replacements. But before the replacements arrived, a good Samaritan showed up. The carrier delivered the package to his house and he put it in his truck and brought it over to us.
We contacted the merchant and they asked us to return the items to their brick and mortar store, so we did. But at the store, no one knew what to do. After Rachael finally convinced them to keep the package and came home, we got a call from a manager who couldn’t understand why our items were at their store. Eventually we got the idea across, after 2 phone conversations, and they gratefully accepted the items. Sometimes doing the right thing takes a little extra work. Hopefully Little Man learned something from the process!
75174 – 6 copies of Desert Skiff Escape. Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Boba Fett. What’s not to love about that set of minifigures? This scene from Return of the Jedi even includes a build of the Sarlacc Pit.
75175 – 5 copies of A-wing Starfighter. This Star Wars set includes a Lando minifigure, which has been a gap in our inventory for a long time.
60153 – 9 copies of Fun at the Beach. We found these on clearance at a few stores. They include minifigures in swimwear and shorts. Those minifigures will appear in our inventory as separate pieces – legs, torsos, heads, hair, etc. Also here, lots of animals and a kayak!
In other news, Rachael and Little Man started up with school again. That’s as close to normal as life gets around here. When school starts again for me in two weeks, we’ll see what survives!
