All the news for Younger and Son!
Finishing off 2020…
2020 was rough for a lot of folks. It was a year that challenged what we consider important, it pushed us to our social isolation limits. I can honestly say that I’m a better person for all that I dealt with in 2020.
2020 LEGO® news
Like years before, we were able to snag a good number of “Black Friday” LEGO® deals. The creative tower was a great deal again and we were able to acquire a bigger number of them than in previous years. This assures plenty of basic bricks in the store over this next year, and if there is a particular piece you are interested in feel free to contact us and ask!

We hired some friends and spent about 3 hours sorting all those bags by color.

We are constantly on the look out for good deals on sets to keep the store stocked with the pieces you need!
Attack of the Killer Plants
We’ve been looking for a new house for about 18 months now. Several months ago, we decided that what we really wanted was to pick out the land, then add a house. Once that was decided, it didn’t take all that long for us to find the near perfect lot of land.

Its about 2 acres, heavily wooded, and, honestly, overgrown. We are loving the work, we are excited about the future that we can even now see in our mind’s eye.
The down side is plants trying to kill you.

Almost everyone knows about poison ivy and its relatives. And we certainly have poison ivy on this land (and, likely poison oak and poison sumac. I mentioned it being overgrown, right?). But we have discovered that the Professor has the allergic response to Virginia Creeper. Contact dermatitis hit just before Christmas and its been a roller coaster process of healing since. But he is finally on the final stretch of mending, and we have in place some basic protocols of decontamination.
The Start of 2021
Everyone was all about getting 2020 done, because 2021 couldn’t be any worse, right? :::sigh::: so we wished. Days into 2021, The Professor had to have emergency out-patient surgery to deal with some infections that set in with the contact dermatitis. That’s completely wonked with our days for nearly a week as he slowly got back on his feet. We even had to close the store for a few days while he recovered, which is a first since we opened in 2013. But though 2021 started out just awful, it has gotten better.
Of course, I have goals and ideas of what 2021 should look like.

I’m hoping to get a bustling garden again, and have some things growing on our new land. I want to explore the pond that is on our land, and we are working hard to rebuild the new-house fund. I’m participating in the Schole Sister’s 5×5 Challenge again this year, and hoping to improve upon 2020. Yep, I wrote up new goals for myself for this year.

What about you? Any hopes, plans or goals for 2021? Who is keeping you accountable? What is your news?
