The year is wrapping up. All outside education duties have been fulfilled for 2018. We are getting our last few days of ‘school’ in here at home. All the Christmas gifts have been purchased, though they still need wrapping. Though I put it off, our tree is finally up and we even have some outside lights courtesy my father-in-law.

Learning Contentment
We participated in our small group’s white elephant exchange on Sunday. I’ve decided that these types of gift exchanges are the best for teaching contentment. We let the kids participate, and it was a much louder game than when its all adults.

Gotcha Day
Two years ago, December was crazy and unpredictable. At the last minute, we purchased plane tickets and made our way to NYC. The city was overwhelming, cold and hard, but it was there that we “got” Mr Wigglesworth. He and a sibling were transferred to me, and later Little Man had a melt down in front of the NYC Library (Ghost Busters!). So, we got nuggets at a McD’s by Grand Central Station.
It seems very Winter appropriate to display the wonderful paving stone good friends got us to commemorate our 4 lost snowflakes and our 1 lost water droplet.
Gingerbread Houses!
Of course, one must build and decorate a gingerbread house. Last year, it got eaten before it was decorated, so this year I’m cutting out parts for 2. One that the boys can just eat, and one that I can decorate. We will bake parts for tomorrow, and assemble then on Saturday. We used this tutorial last year and it worked really well, so using it again. It’s not really an ‘after school’ thing for us, but she did a great job breaking it down into very doable steps.
“Advent” Calendar
Last, but certainly not least, we’ve been working our way through the LEGO Star Wars Advent calendar, one day at a time. If you are, too, you’ll notice that its not the same as yours…. yes, its from 2017. See, we snag a slew of them after Christmas at a discount, save one and part out the rest. These little mini builds are the neatest thing! All are about $2 and strike me as great party favors or a party game activity. The hard part is getting the sets you want since they go fast.

As for that unprinted disk, it sold!
