When you buy LEGO® parts from us, we aim to ship it out to you the next business day if not faster. It’s not a very complex process, but there are a few steps your order goes through to get out the door to USPS.

All the emails
First, an email about your order comes in, then an email about your payment hits the inbox. (Bulky orders may have to wait for an invoice in there if the shipping estimators we’ve built can’t find a good solution.) We print your order, and it gets put in a picking tray on the table in the LEGO® room.
Picking orders
We go through and pick what has been ordered, bag it appropriately, check it off on the order, and put it in the box. Standard service includes bagging every lot of parts separately and this helps us to check the orders too. We tend to do one order at a time, it’s just easier that way. It’s one person who picks, so the other can check the order.

Checking orders
Ah, the fun part, and the bit that I do. Once the professor picks the order, I grab the right envelope to pack the order, sit down on the floor and dump all the parts that are in the picking tray onto the floor. I work through the order and put the lots in the shipping envelope, one at a time, confirming part, color and number if its less than 10. I double check the address on the order and the shipping label to make sure the right stuff is going to the right person. On the up side, I usually get to do this while watching TV or listening to a podcast.
Shipping out
We ship USPS, unless buyer requests otherwise, because it’s usually the cheapest method. We discovered that you can set a package pickup via the website, which made getting the packages to USPS super simple. And we’ve gotten to know our mail carrier. She is a super sweet woman, and I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know her.
It’s not complex, but the process makes sure we get packages out in good time, with the right parts to the right people. Checking orders helps make sure we get color and part right, but a few mistakes have slipped through. When that happens, we work hard to make it right. We want to know when get it wrong so we can make it right, but we do enjoy hearing when we get it right.
So, when you want or need LEGO®, come and see us!
