There was a podcast that I listened to last winter where the hosts said the Swedes had the saying, “There is no bad weather, only bad clothes.” I’ve not vetted this saying, so I have no idea what Scandinavian peoples might have first said it, but I accept that it was a Viking who first declared that.
Cooler Weather
We’ve had our first cold front of the fall move in this week. The summer heat finally left and the weather had cooled to a nice 85′ as highs for most days. But the cold front brought highs in the 40’s! Yeah, I know that 40′ isn’t that cold, but this is central Texas, people. And the front brought rain. We just love getting rain, but 45′ and raining is not nice to play in. But children must get outside for their own sanity and parental sanity.

I totally buy into the ‘no bad weather, only bad clothes’ mantra, but we just don’t have the clothes to handle 45′ and rain. We are far better equipped for snow and 20’s. Sure, both boys and I have rain boots, or muck boots as I call them, which are great for mucking around in the wet. But I think, to do well in this weather, one needs better water resistance than fleece. And when you need it, maybe, 5 days in a year, its hard to justify the cost. So, we stay inside or in the garage.

I do enjoy the cooler weather. Soups and stews for dinner and lunch. Hot drinks all day. I can light a candle without fear of increasing our cooling bill.

In LEGO news
It took only about 2 weeks to starting selling out of train parts after parting out set 75955. We knew trains were popular, but wow! So, we acquired more of this Harry Potter set. If you need train wheels or axles, we should have them back in stock in the next week or so.
