This week we’ve added a lot of new parts in the inventory. Here’s a look at what we accomplished:
New Computer
The big improvement this week came through a new laptop we purchased for use in parting out sets. It began service this week and made a significant improvement in efficiency. Now I don’t have to come out of the parts room to use the desktop computer in the living room. Coupled with a snow day (during beautiful but chilly weather) I got lots of parts added to the inventory.
Parts added
I parted out three sets this week, though in one case, I parted out only a portion of the set.
9x 76060 – Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum
This set has a very Lovecraftian feel to it. I was a touch disappointed to find that most of the old books were done with stickers. The set still has some nice decorated tile maps though and lots of tentacles. The skull looks good too.
3x 41182 Capture of Sophie Jones
I don’t normally part out small numbers of sets these days, but we got these at half price. Just couldn’t pass up the clearance deal! I love the plant leaves in dark purple here. For those making fantastic landscapes, odd colored leaves make a nice accent. We didn’t have the purple ones previously, though now that we have purple, we’ve sold out of them in magenta.
83x 10704 Creative Box
I bought these boxes on Thanksgiving day as part of my WalMart haul. This week I managed to get through the red parts only, so this set will come up again in the future as I do the other colors. Having 83 copies to part out really pushed the limits of our table space and storage space as well as my patience. The classic 2×4 brick is such a classic LEGO® element that the LEGO® Group trademarked it. We rarely accumulate many of these before they sell. But each of these 83 sets contained 8 red 2×4 bricks, for a total of 664 added to the inventory. Now we have to worry about storing all of them.
